Lot# 288 S/N 194377S116945. Red/black vinyl. Odo: 12 miles. 427-c.i., 430-hp V8, 4-speed. Rare L88 option with correct radio and heater delete. Some possible newer paint, but when I asked I was told, "Not to my knowledge." Slight delamination on left base of windshield. Original mileage. Cond: 1-.
Huge money on what is probably the rarest of the rare, even with a replacement engine block. No comparisons are available. Maybe it's a bargain. Maybe it's overpriced (I doubt it), but it is the rarest, most desirable '67 'Vette on the planet.
Lot# S88 S/N 194379S736298. Monza Red/tan leather. Odo: 2,257 miles. 427-ci 430-hp V8, 4-bbl, 4-sp. Fully documented original-miles L88 car with Bloomington Gold, NCRS Top Flight, Gold Spinner Triple Crown awards, never scoring below 97. As new everywhere and superb throughout. Cond: 1.
This could be the ultimate showroom-sold collector Corvette. Put it on a pedestal. At this price, this car will never be driven the way it was originally intended again. A decent buy for the Corvette collector looking for the best.
Lot# S63 - S/N 30837S117511. Riverside Red/black vinyl. Odo: 40,010 miles. 327-ci 360-hp fuel-injected V8, 4-sp. N03 big tank option, Z06 package. Shiny paint shows slight drips at left side of hood and on headlight doors. Panel gaps typically varied. Good bright trim and chrome, some hard weatherstripping. Engine compartment clean, interior nicely finished in original-style black vinyl. Cond: 2+.
Sixty-three cars left the assembly line with the N03 big tank, and 199 were born as Z06s, making this one of the rarest of the breed. This was a lot of money for a Split-Window, but it was a reflection of both its rarity and its condition.
Lot# S539 S/N E54S002027. Gypsy Red/beige/beige. Odo: 221 miles. 265/195, 4-bbl, auto. Close to perfect, though the passenger door appears to fit a bit wide at bottom. Bloomington Gold, NCRS Top Flight, Vettefest Triple Crown. A top car. Cond: 1.
Think this is huge money? Wait a few years and watch it again. If I wanted an early Corvette, the 1955 V8 would be the one for me. And this would be the exact car I'd choose.
Lot# S719 S/N 194677S102849. Red/white vinyl/red leather. Odo: 31,500 miles. 427-ci 435-hp V8, 4-sp. Originally owned by astronaut Gus Grissom, extensive documentation. Power windows, steering, and brakes. Leather seats with headrest. Telescopic wheel and speed warning speedo. Engine dirt and wear visible. Underside cleaned with some detailing. Super shiny and greasy looking hoses and rubber parts. Some non-stock wiring visible under hood. Driver seat shows wear, rear bumper chrome wavy. Some windshield chips visible. Cond: 2.
Originally Lyndale Blue with a teal interior. Tires and rubber parts were too shiny and left black color on my fingers. Gus didn't get this car for free, as is commonly thought—he and the other astronauts each paid $1.00 for their Corvettes. One of a number of Russo no reserve star cars that sold well, and provenance played a big part on this one.
Lot# 753 S/N VE555001658. Red/tan cloth & Plexiglas/tan vinyl. Odo: 39,000 miles. 265-ci 260-hp V8, 4-bbl, 3-sp. Fitted with a rare black Plexi bubble top made by Model Builders of Chicago. Claimed to be the first showing of this car since having undergone some mechanical work, including an engine rebuild. Owner reports $153k spent in NOS parts. Cond: 2.
The bubble top may not have been the best look for this first-year small-block car, but it was rare, and the car itself was in very good shape overall. Price paid was fair for both parties.
Lot# S528 S/N 194677S104883. Red/red HT, black ST/black. Odo: 42,564 miles. 427/435, 3x2-bbl, 4-sp. Both tops. Some chips, cracks, and pinholes in the paint. Lots of windshield chips. Nice interior, with only minor marks. Clean engine with high gloss radiator paint. Cond: 2.
This was by no means an excellent car. When new, however, it was the biggest and baddest available in ’67, next to the 430-hp L88. With the tri-carb setup and the manual gearbox, as well as having both tops, plenty of people checked this car out as it sat. This was a big price, but not unjustified in the continual swell of the ’Vette market.
Lot# 292 S/N 30867S100148. Maroon/black, white, maroon leat. Odo: 25 miles. 327-c.i., 360-hp fuel-injected V8. Custom leather and door panels, unique two-spoke wood steering wheel. Lots of chrome under hood. Chrome side pipes, some discoloration at header pipes in engine compartment. Blue Streak tires with knock-off wheels. Cond: 1.
A rare factory show car built for Chevrolet General Manager "Bunkie" Knudsen. A quality-built running and driving car, unlike many of the "show-only" cars built as styling exercises. Great interior, great history, real eye candy. I wish I could own it!
Lot# 1267 S/N 194677S121065. Red & black/black vinyl/black vinyl. Odo: 67,294 miles. 427-ci 435-hp V8, 3x2-bbl, 4-sp. Fresh restoration of documented 435-hp convertible. Sidepipes, headrests, reproduction mag wheels, Redline tires, new wiring harness. Correct transistor ignition, excellent clearcoat paint and bodywork, teak wheel. Radiator and stripes not typical, power brake cylinder cap looks to be ’68 or later. Air cleaner wing nut not typical, missing French locks on exhaust manifold bolts. Cond: 2.
Magic mid-year combination of colors and options pulls 30% over top book. Well sold.
Lot# X31 S/N 30837S120537. Red/red leather. Odo: 93,760 miles. 327/250, 4-bbl, auto. New, shiny paint with a few chips. Front bumper chrome shows micro scratching. Power windows, with worn window fuzzies. Cracked driver's side vent weatherstripping. An a/c car with the big 36-gallon tank and a known history. Cond: 2.
The known history of this rare air-conditioned, "Big Tank" 'Vette helped to bring the strong bidders to the table, where the bidding was heavy and heated. '63s don't get much more desirable than this.
